At 11000 SW 57th Avenue in the Village of Pinecrest sits one of the most extraordinary community parks in all of South Florida — and one of the most genuinely underappreciated. Pinecrest Gardens is a 14-acre botanical paradise that was once the private Parrot Jungle attraction before being transformed into a magnificent community resource that Pinecrest residents enjoy year-round.

For buyers considering Pinecrest, this park is one of the first places I bring them. Because Pinecrest Gardens does not just show you what the village has — it shows you what the village values. And what it values is extraordinary.

The Botanical Collection

Pinecrest Gardens is home to one of the most impressive collections of tropical and subtropical plants in all of Florida — a legacy of its origins as Parrot Jungle, which operated on this site for decades before relocating to Watson Island in 2003.

The botanical collection includes extraordinary specimens of tropical trees including ancient banyans that have grown into genuinely massive and architecturally stunning forms, royal palms, tropical flowering trees, rare cycads, orchids, bromeliads, and hundreds of other tropical species. The garden is both a genuine botanical resource and a visually spectacular environment that changes with every season — though in South Florida that means blooms and color virtually year-round.

✅ Sandra's insight: The banyan trees at Pinecrest Gardens are among the most impressive I have seen anywhere in South Florida. Some of them are genuinely enormous — the kind of trees that stop you and make you realize how extraordinary our natural environment actually is. Walking through the gardens with buyers from northern states is one of my favorite parts of showing Pinecrest.

The Banyan Bowl — Outdoor Amphitheater

One of Pinecrest Gardens' most beloved features is the Banyan Bowl — an outdoor amphitheater set beneath the canopy of ancient banyan trees. The Banyan Bowl hosts a year-round schedule of concerts, performances, community events, and cultural programming that makes Pinecrest Gardens genuinely alive as a community space rather than simply a passive park.

The acoustics of the natural banyan canopy create an extraordinary concert experience — and performances at the Banyan Bowl have become one of the signature cultural events of Pinecrest community life. Check the Village of Pinecrest events calendar for current Banyan Bowl programming.

The Splash Pad and Children's Area

Pinecrest Gardens features a well-designed splash pad and children's play area that makes the park a genuine family destination even for the youngest visitors. The splash pad provides a safe and fun water play experience that is particularly beloved on South Florida's hot summer days — and the surrounding botanical environment gives children a genuinely educational outdoor experience that most urban parks simply cannot provide.

The Pinecrest Gardens Farmers Market

Every Sunday morning from 9am to 2pm, Pinecrest Gardens hosts one of South Florida's most beloved farmers markets — combining fresh local produce, artisan food products, and the extraordinary botanical setting of the gardens into a Sunday morning experience that Pinecrest residents describe as one of the great pleasures of village life.

The market draws vendors from throughout South Florida's growing region — including tropical fruit farmers from the Redland agricultural area — and attracts a community of shoppers from Pinecrest and surrounding communities who have made Sunday morning at the gardens a weekly ritual.

Why Pinecrest Gardens Matters for Real Estate

The presence of Pinecrest Gardens as a community resource is one of the factors that makes the Village of Pinecrest genuinely different from other South Florida communities at comparable price points. A 14-acre botanical garden with an outdoor amphitheater, a weekly farmers market, free admission for village residents, and year-round programming is an amenity that most communities — regardless of price point — simply cannot offer.

When I work with buyers considering Pinecrest, Pinecrest Gardens is consistently one of the elements that tips the balance for families who are choosing between this village and comparable communities. It represents the kind of investment in community quality of life that is reflected in Pinecrest's sustained property values and its extraordinary +19.8% year-over-year appreciation in 2026.

✅ Free admission for Pinecrest village residents is one of the genuine lifestyle perks of buying in Pinecrest. For a family that visits weekly — which many do — this is a meaningful ongoing benefit that comes with your property tax dollars working for you.
